These Steps are the original steps that Joseph Smith stood on after he was tarred and feathered when he got up and gave a sermon on forgiveness. Those who tarred and feathered him were present in the audience.

God the Father and his son Jesus Christ appeared here. Several of the Doctorine and Covenants sections were revealed here. Christ basically reestablished his church here through revelation to Joseph.
